Ground Water

In support of the Saskatchewan Watershed Authority mandate, the Ground Water Management Branch provides a number of services to both the public and private sectors. Major functions of the Branch include:

  • Regulates Ground Water Withdrawals
  • The Branch is responsible for administering Ground Water Rights Licenses and Approvals to Construct and Operate for wells and other ground water works;

  • Provides Ground Water Information
  • This includes information on potential ground water location, ground water quality, well yields and water well construction, maintenance and decommissioning to the public, municipalities, industry and other government agencies;

In addition to these major functions the Branch also provides hydrogeologic expertise to other Branches of the Watershed Authority, Saskatchewan Environment in the review of environmental project proposals and to Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture in the review of intensive livestock operation proposals.
