Ground Water

Information Services

The Saskatchewan Watershed Authority assists the public in determining potential ground water resources at a given site. Available information used to assist in determining the potential ground water resources includes:

  • Geology and Ground Water resource maps; and
  • Water well driller reports and geophysical logs (E-Logs) that have been compiled from past drilling.

The ground water information service also provides information on the various exploration methods, well design considerations, possible water treatment requirements, well maintenance and ground water protection practices, including well decommissioning. Water well maintenance information is also conveyed to the public, which includes detecting and determining water well problems and proper methods for chlorination of water wells.

This information assists in determining the base of ground water exploration along with potential well depths, yield, and water chemistry. Information on the various exploration methods, well design considerations, possible water treatment requirements is available. This service is geared primarily to individuals or drillers undertaking work for individuals. Replies are provided within 24 hours, and most often the same day.

Information on water well maintenance and ground water protection practices including proper well decommission procedures provided to the public. This includes diagnosing water well problems including potential solutions and proper methods for shock chlorination of water wells.
