STATEMENT FROM THE MINISTER
July 29, 2010
The Government of Saskatchewan is committed to delivering and building on its promises to the people of Saskatchewan. The Government is also committed to being accountable. One component of our commitment to accountability is to publish plans and to report on success in achieving the commitments made in those plans.
As part of that commitment to accountability, the Watershed Authority, in this Annual Report, details the progress on each commitment made in its Plan for 2009-10 and also reports on a set of performance measures.
Your Government is also committed to responsible financial management. When the global recession began to impact provincial revenues, the Government instructed agencies to reduce expenditures in discretionary areas such as travel.
The Watershed Authority reduced expenditure by $400,000.
Effective management of our water supplies is essential to maintain the quality of life in Saskatchewan and to assure continued opportunities for growth and development.
The initiatives pursued in 2009-10, and those planned for 2010-11, will help ensure water continues to be available to support our communities.
